The Origin Story

I started writing essays and telling stories about being in my brother Marshall’s band and my years as a professional “rock musician” on Facebook about 15 years ago.

At some point, someone suggested I write a book. I had just gone back to school for the third or fourth time and was used to writing assignments, so I took on the task.

Writing a memoir is kind of like going through pschoanalysis; walking yourself back through all of the experiences you deem to be relatable to other people, and interesting enough, or funny enough to include. In some cases it was honestly a pretty emotional journey.

Like any big project I got a lot of help. I reached out and interviewed people, researched the socioeconomic environment od the times i was describing, and ran lots of ideas by people I knew and respected and had people i shared the experiences with, write, and in some cases record their reflections.

I absolutley love group projects. They are usually a lot of fun, connect new knowledge to old knowledge, and create new lasting memories. I hope you follow and enjoy the show with us.

Best regards,

Robert Crenshaw
