My Mythological Politics

In my mind is a constantly running story about anything I happen to be thinking of at the time. Every idea a narrative based on past experience, and the stories are constantly being edited by new experiences and information, new insights into old experience, and often framed by anxiety, remorse, and other emotional consequences of human frailty. I would be less than honest if I denied self deprecation and doubt keep me guessing.

This past week, I was listening to an audiobook by astrophysicist and musician Brian Cox called Black Holes. One of the things he said early on that caught my attention, is that in the beginning, scientific research begins with a an observation, an idea, and a guess. Then the idea and guess are researched and developed by rejecting ideas that turn out to be false or inconclusive, and accepting and nurturing the ideas that turn out to be true, at least that’s what’s supposed to happen.
